Ashlee’s Senior Portraits by Durango CO Photographer

I posted some of Ashlee’s Senior Portraits a couple of weeks ago.  I got really busy with weddings (still am), but she wanted me to post some more so her Grandma (who lives out of our area) could look at them.  So here’s some of Ashlee’s favorites.

Here’s a couple of things she had to say about her portrait session:

Q:  How would you describe your session?

A:  I had a lot of fun.  Karen and Ken made me feel very comfortable.  It was easy to smile around them:)

Q:  What did you like about our photography that you didn’t see in portraits from other studios?

A:  I like that I had a lot of say in where the pictures were taken.

Q:  What did you like best about your portraits?

A:  They look very professional!  I will be showing these pictures off for a long time.

Q:  You may have seen some senior pictures taken by someone with a camera who is not a professional.  Comparing them to yours, what advice would you give to an upcoming senior who may think a senior snapshot is “good enough”?

A:  If you go to a professional, everything is going to pop more.  Anyone can take a camera and point it, but Karen had made sure everything as  close to perfect as possible.

Q:  If you could do your session over again, what if anything, would you do differently?

A:  Bring another outfit of brighter colors

Luckily Ashlee didn’t have anything bad to say about us, or I wouldn’t have been able to post all this nice stuff.  Thanks Ashlee!

I did these in color and sepia.  Can’t decide which I like better.  This is a retro High School Senior Portrait Session in Durango CO.  Ashlee attends Bayfield High School and will be graduating in 2014.  She was so much fun and actually wore hair extensions because she had cut her hair before the session.  Her grandma liked her hair long so she bought her the extensions (fun grandma).

13 Wedding Planning Tips by Karen Skelly Photography

It’s wedding season here in Durango CO, and pretty much everywhere, so I’ve attached a pdf file of suggestions for your wedding planning if you’re getting married, or if you know someone who is getting married.  I know when you are getting married for the first time, there are so many things you don’t know (I remember that time).  I’ve been the photographer at so many weddings now that I have learned a lot of things most first time couples would really appreciate knowing.

I hope you will find these tips useful.  Feel free to comment any other suggestions you may have, or questions you have on the items I have listed.  Thank you for reading my blog.  Let me know what you think.

Constance – Senior 2013 by Durango Photographer

Constance is a Senior at Farmington High School and will be graduating in about 4 weeks.   I am very grateful that they chose me to be their photographer because they had to drive 50 miles each way to do the portrait session, and then around 80 miles each way to view and order their portraits.  Here are some of the beautiful images of Constance who is a gorgeous girl.

Ethan’s Newborn Images by Durango Baby Photographer

Ethan was just 10 days old when I had the privilege of photographing his cuteness.  It took approximately 3 hrs to complete his newborn session and, unfortunately, he didn’t let me do all the creative ideas I had for him.  That happens with babies and you just have to let them dictate the session.

Maternity Portraits of Lynsey and Martin

Lynsey and Martin came to my studio for their maternity portraits just days before little Ethan was due to make his appearance.  I made her promise not to go into labor while they were here.  She did mention that it was a full moon that evening, so she couldn’t promise anything.  They did just great and thankfully Ethan waited another week.  I’ll be posting his newborn portraits soon.  Enjoy and please leave a comment letting me know how you feel about these.  Thanks!
